Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church has been a significant part of the expansion of the Catholic Faith in Tulsa, Oklahoma since it's inception on July 1, 1950. During the nearly sixty years since the parish was founded, the people have been promoting the Christian faith through the many ministries offered and through our school.
The current church was built in 1960, with the first mass being held at Midnight, December 24, 1960. The stained glass window at the front of Saints Peter and Paul symbolizes our parishâs mission to be the "vines" through which God carries his love to our community.
Today, the Saints Peter and Paul Parish continues to grow and expand in our expression of love for those less fortunate. On May 21, 2008, the parish was enshrined as the Diocesan Shrine of Saint Toribio Romo, a Patron Saint of Immigrants. The Parish obtained a first class relic of Saint Toribio and has plans to build a baptistry in his honor to house a statue and the relic.
As we reflect on the past, enjoy the present, and look forward to our future, let us do so with humble faith which reminds us it was not just the founders or we ourselves, but rather God within the founders and us which has brought our faith journey to this point. Such a reflection will place us within a posture of thanks for the many blessings God has bestowed upon us.
